Keene FFA alumni group introduces fundraisers and student support to council

Shelly Brady introduced the Keene Texas FFA Community Alumni Group, a nonprofit organization formed by parents and community members to support Keene High School’s FFA program. She told the City Council the alumni group holds fundraising nights, bake sales and car washes to help students pay for fair and show expenses, scholarships and travel to national competitions.
"We are with all the growth Ken is having and all the new students at the school and everything. Our FFA is growing as well," Brady said, describing the group as separate from the school and run under its own tax ID. She listed recent and upcoming fundraisers and community service activities, including a presence at a local Tractor Supply farmer’s market and work putting out flags for a town ceremony.
Council members recognized the volunteers and thanked them for supporting student leadership, life skills and community service. The mayor invited the group to remain in contact with city staff about opportunities for collaboration on community events.
The presentation was informational; no budget or council action was requested at the Sept. 11 meeting.
