Council introduces annexation, rezoning, gas franchise and open-fire fee amendments

The council read for the first time multiple ordinances at its Aug. 25 meeting: an annexation ordinance for parcels near 1938 and 2020 Frankfort Road (approximately 0.8–0.9 acres), a companion rezoning from A-1 agricultural to B-2 highway commercial contingent on annexation, a nonexclusive gas franchise ordinance awarding rights to Columbia Gas (initial 10-year term with up to two 5-year extensions and a franchise-fee reservation up to 5%), and an amendment to the Georgetown Code of Ordinances to waive open-fire permit fees for local 501(c)(3) organizations up to four times per calendar year.
