Georgetown council approves change order for City Hall, schedules shifted to late November/December

Council approved municipal change order number 11 for the City Hall renovation at its Aug. 25 meeting after staff presented a schedule update and scope clarifications.

Project representative Kate (speaker 18) told the council the schedule had been updated to reflect the proposed municipal change order and that the team was showing "substantial completion at 11/25/2025 with a final completion of 12/12/2025." She described remaining interior work (drywall, MEP rough-ins, ceiling grid and tile), delayed window deliveries (estimated eight to nine weeks) and planned exterior waterproofing tied to the change order.

Staff explained the waterproofing scope would excavate a trench down to the footer, clean base stone, apply cold fluid-applied waterproofing, replace poor soil/aggregate with a better substrate, and install a perforated collector pipe discharging to the storm sewer to move water away from the building face. The work also includes additional AV and security adjustments (switching some 180-degree cameras to two-camera coverage) and sidewalk/downslope work connected with the waterproofing effort.

Council discussed safety and festival logistics; staff said fencing would be installed and coordinated with the festival schedule to protect the public and the excavation zone. Risk manager Patrick Johnson (speaker 14) noted on-site coordination was already occurring.

Councilor Mitch Mitchell moved to accept municipal change order number 11; the motion was seconded by Councilor Minkie and approved by voice vote. The mayor asked staff to update signage and continue coordination with festival planners and risk management.
