Bayonne council adopts package of ordinances, moves several redevelopment hearings to Sept. 17

The Bayonne Municipal Council adopted a series of ordinances and consent resolutions during its Aug. 13 meeting, moving several redevelopment matters to public hearings scheduled for Sept. 17 and approving routine amendments to city ordinances.
Among items adopted were O‑2, a financial agreement with Bayonne Energy Center Urban Renewal LLC for property at 401 Newhook Road (Block 419 Lot 1), and a set of revisions to the city’s tax and special improvement district rules (O‑3), water and sewer ordinances (O‑4), and traffic regulations (O‑5 and related parking amendments). Clerks reported no formal protests filed for many of the second‑reading items, and the council closed the hearings and recorded roll‑call votes approving the measures.
Council also moved multiple redevelopment designations and area‑needs investigations forward for study by the planning board (R‑designations) and approved a third amendment extending a KRE purchase deadline to June 30, 2026. The council approved consent resolutions covering CR‑1 through CR‑36, covering routine city purchasing and program funding matters.
The council confirmed an appointment earlier in the meeting (Tina Cicillino as health officer) and agreed to administrative follow‑ups, including scheduling appeal hearings for taxi and liquor license denials on Sept. 10. The meeting closed with an adjournment to Sept. 10.
