Lawrence County commissioners cleared a block of consent and routine items during the meeting, approving the agenda and regular minutes, authorizing bills, travel, personnel stipends and multiple alcohol-license transfers and renewals.
Key actions approved included a travel request for Brandon Rosenau to attend a defensive rifle course in Pierre (June 29–July 1); $104 monthly cell-phone stipends for two deputies (effective 05/27/25); volunteer firefighter insurance enrollments for named Brownsville volunteers; and multiple license transfers and renewals, including an on/off sale wine and cider license application for Nikki Archer. Staff said renewal reviews found no issues with the properties under consideration.
The commission also approved five utility permit applications from Celerity for work north of I‑90 and amended approval to require bonding at the contract amount ($187,240 as presented) before permits proceed. Separately, staff recommended denying a proposed approach permit on Crook City Road because of site constraints; the commission followed that superintendent recommendation and denied the permit.
