District staff told the board that construction has started on the planned employee health center and that Marathon Health will operate the clinic.
"Construction has started," Sarah Jones reported, and contractors told staff they expect to finish around Sept. 15 with the possibility of opening slightly earlier than that timeline. Jones said the district is "hoping for a mid October opening date" but emphasized opening depends on hiring a provider and completing IT and furnishing work.
Jones said Marathon will provide staffing and hold insurance for the clinic. "By Marathon. Marathon holds the insurance. Marathon it's gonna be staffed with a PA, a physician's assistant, and then a medical... med tech and someone at the front desk," she said, describing planned roles including a phlebotomist and lab functions.
Board members asked for a scheduled walk-through; staff agreed to arrange a board walk-through when the provider is in place and the site is ready. Jones said district staff will provide monthly updates as the project approaches opening and will present hours of operation once Marathon finalizes staffing.
What happens next: staff will continue construction oversight, recruitment for the clinic provider and monthly progress updates to the board as the opening approaches. If staffing or licensing issues arise, the opening date could be delayed.
