Separately, an SRO representative (Speaker 7) asked the board to approve five wall‑mounted secure gun lockers so officers could store issued rifles on campus rather than in vehicles. "That way, they don't have to leave them in the cars ... they are secured," Speaker 7 said, describing the lockers as a standard model used in other districts. The speaker stated the lockers would be paid from the district's safety funds but the precise purchase action was not taken at the workshop.
Board members asked whether the required SAVE Act documentation had been submitted and who must sign; Speaker 4 said the board chair's signature and a school signature are required for the state's application. Members agreed staff should return with a spending plan and budget to consider at the September meeting.
No purchase motion was recorded at the workshop; staff will bring a formal spending proposal tied to the SAVE Act funds to the board for consideration.
