Lynn Mowat, executive director of exceptional student education, outlined district efforts for inclusion and said Pinellas County Schools serves nearly 14,000 students with disabilities who receive services through exceptional student education and Section 504 accommodations. She emphasized universal design for learning and inclusive activities during the awareness weeks.
Area superintendent Paula Texel and board members highlighted principals’ leadership roles and read the proclamation recognizing principals’ work in school communities. Both proclamations were moved and seconded and carried on unanimous 7-0 votes.
The proclamations call for district activities that promote understanding of disabilities and recognition of school-based administrators during October.
