Pasco Schools push ahead with health-care career pathway with AdventHealth despite grant uncertainty

Superintendent Legg told the board the district is moving quickly to stand up health-care career pathways in partnership with AdventHealth and grant partners and will begin implementing programs even if the district does not receive the full implementation grant.
"Regardless of whether we get the funding or not, the the 25,000,000 or not, we wanna proceed with implementing the health care pathways of surgical tech and emergency medical professional programs," Legg said, describing the district’s phased plan and the goal of placing students in programs next year at Dade City and at Pasco High School.
Legg said teams from AdventHealth, district staff and grant providers have visited facilities and that work is underway to finalize phase 2 and phase 3 plans with expected board review in October. Board members and staff discussed staffing challenges and the need to recruit qualified instructors; AdventHealth representatives were described as supportive and engaged in workforce development outreach.
Next steps
District staff said they will bring detailed phase 2 and 3 implementation plans to the board in October and continue to coordinate with partners to ensure student enrollment and program readiness for the coming school year.
