Person County approves submission of FY27 Community Transportation Program grant

Person County commissioners voted Sept. 15 to submit the county's FY27 Community Transportation Program application to NCDOT.
Transportation staff explained the application comprises two parts: an administrative project for $208,260 that requires a 15% local match ($31,002.39), and a combined capital grant for three replacement vehicles and technology updates totaling $363,600 with a 10% local match ($36,360). "That means the total grant awards would be 571,880, of which a total local share will be $67,005.99," the presenter said. The Transportation Advisory Board recommended the application at its June meeting.
No members of the public spoke for or against this grant during the public hearing. After a brief board discussion the commissioners voted to approve submitting the application. Staff said they would proceed to submit the application to NCDOT and prepare the local-match funding as required.
