Gilliam County Court approves consent items, personnel resolution, equipment purchases and appointments

The Gilliam County Court met Sept. 17 in Arlington and approved a set of routine and substantive items affecting county operations and personnel.

The consent agenda — including corrected pending bills for Aug. 25, the Gilliam‑Wheeler Community Corrections Plan, an IGA for community corrections, and juvenile crime‑prevention fund reinstatement — was moved, seconded and approved.

The Court adopted Resolution R‑2025‑12 revising the custodian position’s full‑time equivalent (FTE) and placing the position into the bargaining unit; the motion was moved, seconded and approved.

Public works purchases were approved separately: the Court approved buying a used 2023 Caterpillar 420 backhoe (described as a low‑hour Idaho return unit) and a 2023 Caterpillar 140 AWD grader to replace equipment with recurring failures. Road Department staff reported strong paving season activity and described where the grader and backhoe would be deployed.

The Court appointed Julie Landis and Rochelle Bennett to the Gilliam County Cultural Trust Coalition effective Sept. 17, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2028. The meeting closed with announcements about local events, a pending negotiation with Waste Management on the host‑fee agreement and a clarification that a local gas plant had paid recent taxes and was not in foreclosure at the time of the meeting.
