Board approves DeWitt High School 2025–26 curriculum guide and adopts multiple policies including procurement for federal grants

The DeWitt Public Schools Board of Education approved the DeWitt High School curriculum guide for the 2025–26 school year and adopted multiple policies on second reading during the meeting.

Superintendent Kevin Rodatek recommended adoption of the curriculum guide, which the board approved by voice vote after a brief clarification. A board member asked what a "VPAA" credit referenced in the guide meant; an unidentified speaker explained it stands for "visual, performing and applied arts" and referenced the graduation requirements on page 4.

On policy matters the superintendent presented a package of policies for second reading and adoption. Items listed on the second reading included employment/cocurricular policy (31 20.08), opioid antagonists (53 30.02), student accidents (53 40), gifts/grants/requests (72 30), criminal justice information security (83 21), conflict of interest (31 10; 41 10), grant funds/internal controls/cash management/cost principles/procurement for federal funds (61 10; 61 11; 61 12; 61.14; 63.25/6325), disposition of surplus property (73.10) and property inventory (74 50).

Board members noted that policy 6325 (procurement, federal grants and funds) was not on the printed list; the board moved to add policy 6325 to the agenda, approved the addition and then adopted the full set of policies on second reading.

The board adopted the policies by voice vote; the transcript records the motions and the chair's announcement that the policies passed. No amendments to the policies were described in the meeting record.
