At its regular meeting the Gatlinburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a series of infrastructure and consent items: the board accepted the evaluation committee’s recommendation to award the Gatlinburg Water Treatment Plant Extension Project to Duggan & Myers (committee reviewed two submittals and conducted interviews). The board also approved an operating agreement with the Gatlinburg Public Building Authority to enable the PBA to enter into the construction contract for the project.
Separately, staff presented the Newman Road Sewer Lift Station rehabilitation as an integral wastewater project serving eastern neighborhoods; the board approved a contract request for $995,000 with Southern Constructors, noting prior work history with that contractor.
The board approved two right-of-way/highway-use requests at 760 LSO Boulevard (Lot 2A and Lot 2B) for proposed parking-deck turnarounds requested by Grant Kurian; utility review and staff comments indicated the turnaround design would prevent vehicles from backing into the public right of way.
Other consent approvals included declaring multiple city items surplus (including an old hazmat trailer), and Beer Board items: a special-event permit for the Myer Mixon Barbecue Smoke Off (09/27/2025) and an on-premise beer permit for 968 Parkway Suite 5 LLC doing business as Alibi at the Coffee Syndicate. Motions on these items were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes recorded as 'ayes.'
Provenance: the water treatment manager selection (SEG 271–316), PBA agreement (SEG 320–344), Newman Road award (SEG 345–382), right-of-way requests (SEG 188–241), surplus property (SEG 383–423), and Beer Board permits (SEG 529–550).
