The Gatlinburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen on a final reading approved an ordinance making and fixing the annual appropriation for the city for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. The board moved and seconded the ordinance and approved it on the third and final reading with unanimous "aye" calls and no recorded discussion.
Board members also advanced and approved ordinance number 2642, the property-tax levying ordinance for the same fiscal year. During that item an unidentified speaker stated there would be "no increase in property tax." The motion was moved, seconded and passed with the same unanimous voice vote.
City staff earlier in the meeting recognized local firefighter/paramedic Seth Griffin for completing a paramedic program and announced new equipment for public-space maintenance and upcoming Chamber of Commerce events. The budget item was the culmination of multiple prior briefings, including a June 5 workshop and a July 17 budget presentation referenced by staff.
What happens next: the ordinances as approved complete the city’s formal adoption of the FY2025–26 spending plan and levy; no implementation detail or line-item allocations beyond staff remarks were discussed on the record during the final reading.
