Summary
Council proclaimed October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month; Stacy Quistoni of YWCA Sonoma County said the organization serves about 3,000 people per year and reported six domestic‑violence incidents this year that resulted in 15 deaths, and thanked the council for support.
The Sonoma City Council on Sept. 29 read a proclamation naming October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month and welcomed Stacy Quistoni of YWCA Sonoma County to accept it and brief the council.
Quistoni, domestic‑violence services manager at YWCA Sonoma County, described the agency’s services — a 24/7 crisis hotline, a confidential safe house shelter, trauma‑informed counseling and a therapeutic preschool — and said the nonprofit serves approximately 3,000 individuals annually. She told the council the client population is about 90% female, 51% Hispanic/Latinx, 23% children and 4% seniors; 14% of clients were homeless upon intake.
“Sadly, this year alone, Sonoma County has experienced 6 incidents of domestic violence resulting in the loss of life for 15 individuals,” Quistoni said. She asked the community to support YWCA programs and promoted ywcasc.org for resources.
What’s next: the proclamation aims to raise awareness and encourage community participation in fundraising and prevention activities; councilmembers thanked YWCA and encouraged residents to access services or support the organization.
