The Vineland City Council adopted three ordinances on final reading Tuesday, each passing on a roll‑call vote of five 'Yes' votes and sending the measures to the mayor for approval or disapproval.
The council adopted ordinance 20 25‑41, an amendment to ordinance 99‑7 (chapter 537) of the Vineland code addressing property maintenance. The chair moved the ordinance to final reading, no members requested discussion and the council recorded five affirmative votes. The city clerk was instructed to submit the adopted ordinance to the mayor for signature or veto.
The council also adopted ordinance 20 25‑42, which amends and supplements ordinance 8 concerning classification and compensation plans for various board titles, and ordinance 20 25‑43, which amends ordinance 2001‑2 to allow up to five additional five‑year renewal terms for an existing cell‑tower lease between the city and Sprint Spectrum LP for space on a municipal tower at 382 West Butler Avenue. Both passed on unanimous recorded votes and were forwarded to the mayor.
In other business the council passed first reading on four ordinances and set public hearings for Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. Those measures include:
- Ordinance 20 25‑44, authorizing acquisition by purchase or condemnation of 2040 Maple Avenue (block 2502, lot 51) for recreational purposes pursuant to NJSA 40:61‑1; public hearing set for 06/17/2025 at 5:30 p.m.
- Ordinance 20 25‑45, appropriating $4,000,000 from the Electric Utilities Capital Improvement Fund to provide for improvements in connection with implementing a municipal landfill noncondemnation redevelopment plan; public hearing set for 06/17/2025 at 5:30 p.m.
- Ordinance 20 25‑46, amending compensation plans as they apply to the city purchasing agent; public hearing set for 06/17/2025 at 5:30 p.m.
- Ordinance 20 25‑47, a bond ordinance providing a supplemental appropriation of $3,000,397 for improvements to the Joseph V. Romano Sports Complex and authorizing issuance of bonds or notes; public hearing set for 06/17/2025 at 5:30 p.m.
The council also adopted resolution 2025‑271 to authorize a closed session for contract negotiations and to permit disclosure of minutes from that session where appropriate.
Votes at a glance: ordinances 20 25‑41, 20 25‑42 and 20 25‑43 were adopted on recorded 5‑0 votes; ordinances 20 25‑44 through 20 25‑47 passed first reading and were scheduled for public hearings on 06/17/2025 at 5:30 p.m.
