Coatesville district: Reesville and North Brandywine openings, Doe Run rising and Kings Highway design on hold pending traffic study

Architect David Schrader and contractor representatives updated the operations committee on capital projects at the Sept. 9 meeting, reporting progress across multiple sites.

Schrader and ICS construction manager Matt Kelly said Reesville Elementary’s addition and North Brandywine phase 1 were completed over the summer and students have moved into the new spaces. The team is working through punch lists and closeout documentation. For North Brandywine middle school phase 2, design documents are being completed with bids expected in early spring and construction planned to begin next summer.

Scott Middle School’s interior renovation is nearly complete; roofing work was finished and exterior work should be done imminently. Doe Run’s site has moved from underground/site work to visible foundations and steel; project managers aim to have the building enclosed by year-end to begin interior mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in. Kings Highway remains at the design development phase while the project team awaits results of a traffic study before continuing land-development submissions to the township.

Speakers said interior finishes are being staged to allow students into new spaces quickly, and emphasized close coordination with principals and district staff during transitions. The committee encouraged board members and the public to visit project sites and noted a future grand-opening schedule will follow as projects reach completion.
