Council endorses Blake Inscore to represent Crescent City at Sister Cities World Expo

City Manager Weir moved the Sister Cities item earlier on the agenda so the council could hear a brief staff report. Recreation and events director Kelly introduced Inscore, who described his role as a guest speaker in the USA pavilion and outlined a planned itinerary that will include Tokyo, a visit to Iwate Prefecture, and the Osaka summit. Inscore said the trip was organized in partnership with Sister Cities International and the Komomi Foundation and emphasized that the delegation would showcase Crescent City’s sister‑city relationships and disaster‑recovery partnerships.
Inscore told the council he was not requesting city funds for travel but asked for the council’s formal blessing to represent the city. He also said the Komomi Foundation and other community fundraising would help subsidize a student delegate, Haley DeArmond, whom he described as a legacy participant in earlier exchange programs.
Councilmembers voiced appreciation for Inscore’s years of work with sister‑city programming and for the delegation’s potential publicity for Crescent City. A council member moved to authorize Inscore’s representation; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll call vote recorded as unanimous.
The council’s action grants Inscore the city’s formal endorsement to participate in the World Expo and related activities; city staff said they will coordinate any logistical follow‑up and note fundraising avenues managed through the Komomi Foundation.
