At a public hearing on June 5, the owner of a 30-plus acre property at the end of Joe Green Lane asked Canton City Council to remove zoning conditions imposed when the tract was annexed and rezoned in March 2006.
Planning staff summarized the lots history and said 19 conditions were placed on the property aimed at a 69-lot subdivision; staff estimated realistic buildable lots would be closer to 65 after accounting for roads, buffers and detention. The current owner, Lee Lichtenstein, said he wants to remove the conditions so he and his wife may build a single-family home on the tract.
Several nearby residents spoke in favor. Winnie Whitmore, who lives in nearby Great Sky, said she supported leaving most trees in place and welcomed the prospect of a single house instead of a large subdivision. Neighbor Steve Goldie, who owns adjoining property, said he favored one house to avoid heavier road use and preserve neighborhood character.
The public hearing was closed and council members asked clarifying questions about the request. No formal council action to remove the conditions was recorded during the June 5 meeting; staff and the applicant remained available for follow-up questions.
