The Agoura Hills City Council presented a business‑of‑the‑month award, read a California Statehood proclamation and adopted a proclamation recognizing National Preparedness Month.
Mayor Penny Sylvester presented Minoo’s Boutique as September’s business of the month, noting the proprietor’s multidecade presence in the community and inviting the owner — identified in the record as Minu — to accept the recognition. "We are so lucky to have a business like yours in our city," the mayor said during the presentation.
In a ceremonial reading, the council proclaimed Sept. 9, 2025 as California Statehood Day and urged residents to "reflect on California's journey and reaffirm our commitment to the values that make our state truly exceptional," language delivered by the mayor. Councilmember Louis Salaya read a second proclamation designating September as National Preparedness Month and cited the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Ready Campaign; the proclamation calls for outreach to inform residents about emergency plans, emergency kits and participation in local training.
Both proclamations are ceremonial recognitions and do not create binding law. The council encouraged residents to take preparedness steps and to attend community events where the city will provide resources.
