Board members and guests presented multiple student recognitions: Asante Santilli (Union High) was named student of the month and was praised for academic and extracurricular achievement; Ramon Gonzales (Vista Grande) and Isaac Iowane (PACE) were also recognized for leadership and academic performance; Alexandra Atkinson was honored as the CTE student of the month for software and app design achievements.
The board also recognized Crystal Villegas, a math teacher at Vista Grande High School, as employee of the month for leadership in professional learning communities and classroom engagement.
Superintendent Lavender noted several student accomplishments across programs (art students featured in a calendar, CTE competition winners) and announced operational items: open houses and orientations for incoming eighth graders, an early student dismissal day, a nine‑month Truffle Road project adjacent to a busy school with traffic-safety improvements planned, and district career-interview events for which volunteers were invited.
