Goldsboro delays annexation of small Stony Creek parcel after railroad signature absent

Planner Mister Talton reported the city had reached out to the railroad and not yet received the necessary signature. He asked council to defer consideration until the next regular first meeting in October to allow staff to obtain the railroad’s authorization. Several councilmembers briefly questioned whether the petition could be approved subject to conditions, but staff recommended tabling until signatures are in hand.
Council moved, seconded and voted unanimously to table item 5.2 until the Oct. 6 meeting so staff can secure the outstanding ownership signature.
What’s next: Staff will continue outreach to the North Carolina Railroad Company and return the item on Oct. 6 with the required documents or additional recommendations.
