Police jury approves road projects, servitudes, grant submittals and routine bids

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury approved a slate of routine resolutions, ordinances and procurement actions covering roads, water infrastructure, drainage and related services.

Key approvals included an act of sale and temporary construction servitude for the Hamreid Road extension project; a permanent public records servitude for the East Calcasieu Parish consolidated waterworks project; a cooperative endeavor agreement with Copart of Louisiana for right-of-way improvements near US Highway 90; and a permanent utility servitude for the Old Spanish Trail waterline upgrade. The jury also ratified the submittal of a grant application for an energy-resilience planning program and adopted an ordinance approving a lease for 969 Terry Lane in Lake Charles.

The jury approved liquor and beer permits and ratified a special-event permit, authorized staff to notify property owners to show cause at condemnation hearings set for Oct. 2, 2025, and adopted a resolution allocating Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Title I funding. The general fund invoices and budget-to-actual comparisons were approved, and a series of procurement actions were carried: advertising for bids for the Israel LaFleur Park hurricane repairs project and for multiple road and drainage rehabilitation projects; issuing an RFQ for engineering services for the Mallard Junction ground storage replacement; and accepting bids for sign bases, sheeting materials and ready-mix concrete.

Several projects were accepted as substantially complete, including Ginger Lane drainage improvements, a pavement-preservation program across parish roads and road striping work. Most items passed with a motion, a second, and the chair noting that the item carried; the transcript records voice approvals rather than detailed roll-call tallies.
