The Burlington board voted to approve an engagement letter with Piper Sandler to support a planned bond issuance tied to Aldo Leopold improvements and the Greyhound Performing Arts Center.
Greg Reynolds presented the engagement, saying Piper Sandler would act as the district's placement underwriter/agent; the maximum combined fee in the presentation was described as 3.2% of proceeds (2.0% underwriter fee plus 1.2% placement agent). Reynolds said the engagement was consistent with prior bond relationships and recommended approval.
Board members asked staff to ensure the project description in the final bond documents accurately describes Aldo Leopold (the contract text used the phrase "Middle School Improvements" while district facilities staff referred to the site as an intermediate school and included the performing-arts facility). Administrators said they would confirm the correct legal description during bond issuance steps. Board members and staff also discussed the timing for issuance; staff said bonds could be finalized later in the year, with a possible issuance in December depending on market and legislative developments.
The board approved the engagement by voice vote. Staff said bond-issuance options and timelines will return for further board consideration.
