The Brookings School District Board approved the 2025–26 budget and the district’s levies after the business manager identified and corrected a numerical error. Stacy reported that a transfer originally shown as $45,000 to enterprise Fund 503 (early childhood program) should be $70,000; she asked that the board accept the correction. With that change, Stacy said the general‑fund total is $29,721,380 and the enterprise fund is $534,440.
Stacy told the board most funds remained consistent with prior presentations; special-education funding increased by about $1,500 compared with the last presentation. Board members discussed the desirability of showing an explicit early‑childhood line item in future budgets rather than using transfers so the district’s investment would be more visible. The board motion to approve the corrected 2025–26 budget and levies carried by vote.
Board members also noted they had coordinated levy requests with county officials (Jennifer Beller at the county office) and that the district remained at maximum levies, a recurring annual position.
