County approves EDA application for transportation planning grant to study Redding Track access

With Josh Morgan absent, an EDA representative (JJ) asked the Fiscal Court to approve applying for transportation planning monies from the Federal Highway Administration to study traffic and access related to the Redding Track development. The grant request could range from $250,000 up to $1.5 million, JJ said, and does not require a local match.
Magistrates discussed the importance of coordinating planning work before large-scale development to avoid incremental upgrades that limit long-term connectivity; the EDA representative noted that the study could evaluate road layouts, drainage, sidewalks and off-site retention and make the development more compatible with community needs.
The court approved the EDA applying for the grant and authorized the judge to sign necessary paperwork to pursue the funding.
