Airport manager Steve Shuck recommended the county purchase a used truck from Independent Highway 2 for $7,000 to provide redundancy and increase carrying capacity at both county airports. Shuck said the airport's capital lease account has sufficient funds due to lower‑than‑anticipated expenses elsewhere and recommended the purchase.
Commissioners asked operational questions about how the truck would be used; Shuck said the vehicle would be rotated between both airports and duplicates an existing truck, providing a dump bed, plow and towing capability. The board moved and approved the administrative purchase and signature.
The airport manager said the purchase would be charged to the capital lease account and would improve winter and summer operational flexibility.
