Board adopts 2025–26 district goals and reviews draft elementary science, social studies curriculum

The Blue Valley Board of Education unanimously approved the district’s 2025–26 goals on July 21 after a presentation from Deputy Superintendent Dr. Katie Collier outlining priorities including advancing academic excellence, supporting teacher professional learning and expanding coordinated mental-health resources for students.
Dr. Collier told the board the district will support teachers as they implement recently approved elementary reading resources, continue work on middle-school math and present periodic updates on progress. She said administrators will provide updates on specific initiatives, including reports on middle-school math and on career-ready programming tied to Johnson County Community College partnerships.
Director of Curriculum and Instruction Jennifer Luzinski presented draft elementary science (K–5) and social studies curriculum documents, noting the drafts do not introduce new state standards or new district-adopted resources and that the district will solicit teacher feedback before final adoption. Luzinski said the district adopted the knowledge strand of Amplify CKLA third edition as a co-curricular ELA resource and is identifying power standards across courses.
A board member asked that administration provide quarterly progress reports that state the goal for each coming quarter and then report back on achievements. Administration agreed to work toward that cadence.
