The City of Wagner on Sept. 2 approved a contract with Property Upkeep for abatement services after staff said it had received two quotes and recommended Property Upkeep for the work.
Jessica (speaker 18), who presented the quotes, said Property Upkeep's current price was higher than a previous quote from 5 Star Demolition but explained 5 Star did not submit a proposal this time. Councilmember speaker 14 asked for and was promised a list of properties that had been addressed in the past two years and additional contract details.
"This company, Property Upkeep, looking at their quote, seems to be twice as much as 5 Star Demolition," a councilmember (speaker 14) said during the discussion. Despite that concern, the council voted to accept Property Upkeep's quote and enter into a contract, with the roll call showing a majority in favor and one negative vote recorded.
Staff committed to provide the council with a list of citywide properties that have been managed and to report on contract performance going forward.
What happens next: Code Enforcement is to provide an inventory of abatement work over the last two years and monitor the contractor's performance under the new agreement.
