Hunter Regan, Public Works sanitation, said all residential streets are swept three times yearly in three passes (March–May, June–August, September–November), downtown is swept weekly and arterial streets twice monthly. “All street sweeping is performed Monday through Friday, as long as weather conditions allow,” Regan said.
He identified recurring obstacles including parked vehicles blocking sweepers, construction zones and weather delays. Regan said the annual street‑sweeper operations budget is $176,469, which includes roughly $18,000 in tipping fees, and the department receives about $27,000 annually from a litter abatement grant.
In response to a resident concern relayed by a commissioner that sweepers were running dry and leaving debris on porches, Regan said crews do use water and can increase water application in high‑sediment areas. “We do have water that goes into that and we fill that tank up,” he said.
Regan encouraged residents to check the city’s online map tool for zone information and to cooperate by moving vehicles when sweepers are scheduled to pass. The presentation was informational; no action was taken.
