Council authorizes sale of 12.3-acre city tract to Krebs Brewing Company

McAlester — The McAlester City Council voted to authorize the interim city manager to complete the sale of a 12.3-acre tract in the Steven Taylor Industrial Park to Krebs Brewing Company.
Staff said Krebs exercised a purchase option contained in a 2017 lease for the property where the brewery currently operates. Because the project was partially funded with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the sale required approval from Oklahoma Commerce; staff provided a letter dated June 17, 2025 from Kellen Dixon (director of CDBG programs) granting that approval.
City staff asked the council to authorize execution of the sale under the conditions contained in the packet and the referenced Commerce approval. Councilor Gilmore moved to authorize the city manager to complete the transaction; Councilor Boatwright seconded and the motion carried on roll call.
The sale completes a long-standing lease option and, according to staff, aligns with prior lease terms. No public objection to the sale was recorded in the hearing; the council indicated the transaction follows the original lease and the Commerce approval.
