Resident urges county review after records show larger original Rustic Hills Drive

Colleen Donath, a resident, told the Cheatham County Commission at its Sept. 15 workshop that the county’s records do not match original development documents for Rustic Hills Drive off Pond Creek Road.
"The roads department states they are only responsible for just 0.2 of a mile of the road," Donath said, while citing 1978 plats and planning commission minutes she said show the road was developed to nearly 0.45 of a mile and a 49-foot width. She said a remaining section and a cul-de-sac appear to be unmaintained.
Donath said she reviewed planning commission minutes from the 1970s and spoke with county staff but still found a documentation gap. "If the road was originally approved and developed as approximately 0.45 of a mile, why is the county only recognizing and maintaining 0.2 of a mile today?" she asked.
A commissioner suggested the road superintendent and Franklin (county planning/staff) coordinate with the county attorney to review the historical plats, bonds and signatures and return with documentation and a recommendation to the commission.
The commission did not take immediate action; staff agreed to examine archived planning records, compare them with current road inventories and report back to the commission with definitive documentation of maintenance responsibility.
