Board approves CTE budget, advisory representatives and tractor purchase for Bandy's High

The Catawba County Board of Education unanimously approved the career-technical education (CTE) budget for 2025–26 after a presentation by Dr. Jeff Eisenhower.
Eisenhower told the board that total months of employment allocated for the CTE program this year were 744 months, a decrease of 15 months from the prior year. He also said the state allocation on PRC 014 totals $257,409; federal PRC 017 funding was budgeted at 95% of the previous year pending final state figures. Following discussion, a board member moved to approve the 2025–26 CTE local needs assessment budget and the board voted to approve it unanimously.
Eisenhower also recommended four representatives to the merged Career Technical Education Business Advisory Council for the Catawba County Schools side: Eddie Chapman, Dr. Robin Ross, Sean Brown and Katie Fulbright. The board approved those appointments by unanimous vote.
On equipment, Eisenhower presented three quotes for a compact tractor to replace an aging unit at Bandy's High School. He recommended the low bid from James Rivers Equipment for a John Deere 4044M compact tractor (44 horsepower) and said any students or adults who use the tractor will be required to hold tractor certification. A board member moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed unanimously.
The approvals leave the district positioned to maintain CTE staffing, continue program improvement work and equip the high school's agricultural program for upcoming seasons.
