At its Sept. 9 meeting the Bow Select Board approved several administrative and operational items.
Tree removal: The board voted to allow the Department of Public Works to remove 13 dead trees marked with white ribbons on Putney Road, which is designated a scenic road. DPW and attendees discussed statewide insect damage to maple trees and the decision was approved by voice vote.
Library appointment: The board appointed Margaret Burns as an alternate to the Baker Free Library trustees after a letter from Bob Arnold, the library board chair. Members discussed term lengths and amended the motion to remove a specific time frame pending confirmation with state law; the motion passed.
Water interconnection and liaison appointments: David updated the board on Hooksett’s interest in negotiating terms for a water interconnection. Miss Colby volunteered to be the select board’s representative on the interconnection discussions and Brennan agreed to serve as alternate.
300th anniversary planning and budget: The board discussed forming a 300th anniversary committee and outreach to local organizations (BAC, Rotary, Bowmen’s Club, Pioneers, Garden Club, school booster/PTO, and open spaces). Staff were asked to draft invitations and the board noted the event fund balance (approximately $2,000) may need an increased budget request during the upcoming budget season.
Nonpublic session: The board voted to enter a nonpublic session under RSA 91‑A:3 and adjourned the public streaming to proceed in nonpublic.
