In the draft update to Policy 5-410 (Interscholastic Athletics), the administration proposed a requirement that the district provide an automated external defibrillator (AED) on every campus and at each school-sponsored athletic event, and that the district maintain and display AEDs in accordance with ARS requirements; Dr. McCord said that provision would take effect on Aug. 1, 2026. "Beginning on 08/01/2026 ... the district shall provide an automated external defibrillator," he said.
