Trousdale County reports high summer-camp attendance, staffing needs and field house progress

District administrators reported progress on summer learning camp, staffing and the field house during the Trousdale County Board of Education meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Sandfield and multiple principals said the district was completing week three of its summer learning camp with roughly 129–130 students enrolled and a daily attendance rate near 95 percent. One principal noted incentives to encourage daily attendance and targeted touchscreen Chromebooks for a rising fourth-grade post-test group. "We currently have a 129 students enrolled for 2025... our student attendance on daily average has been about 95%."

Administrators also described instructional uses of recently received achievement data to inform grouping and staffing decisions. Dr. Sandfield said achievement results are embargoed for public release but are being used internally to place students and plan instruction.

On staffing, administrators said most teaching positions are filled but two vacancies remain (a fifth-grade math/science teacher and a middle-school librarian). Support personnel rehire letters were sent and a June 20 deadline was given for responses; an interview "marathon" was planned to fill remaining positions.

On facilities, Dr. Sandfield reported the field house foundation is complete and block-laying is underway with an estimated three weeks to finish that phase; trusses are expected to be set starting around August 1 pending crane availability. The superintendent also noted a planned gym-floor refinishing and other summer maintenance work.
