Board approves furniture, AV, moving services and $200,000 for musical instruments

During its June 16 meeting the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education approved multiple bond-funded procurements and an equipment purchase for the district's instructional programs.
The board voted to approve a furniture purchase not to exceed $368,007.19 for the current phase of FF&E procurement, to be paid from bond funds. Trustee discussion noted stakeholder input and prior pilots and focus groups used to select furniture.
The board also approved a $214,314.96 contract to Key Code Media Inc. to procure, install and commission audio/video broadcast systems for district facilities (paid from bond funds) and approved a $50,000 contingency increase to award physical moving services to Palmer Moving Services / Premier Locations and Corrigan Moving Systems.
Assistant Superintendent Todd Bidlacher presented a separate request to purchase musical instruments and equipment and the board authorized up to $200,000 for that procurement. Trustees and staff affirmed that constituent input from teachers and students informed the instrument list.
Each procurement motion passed by unanimous vote (6-0). Staff said purchases will be paid from bond funds as indicated in the motions and that standard procurement and installation timelines will follow.
