The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Joseph Duda as assistant superintendent of human resources and Title IX compliance officer, with an effective date of July 1, 2025.
Superintendent Rick West recommended Duda to the board, noting his more than 25 years in public education, experience as a high-school assistant principal and middle-school principal, and HR and employee-relations work with Rochester Community Schools. The board then moved and seconded a motion to appoint Duda; the motion passed 6-0.
Duda addressed the board after the vote, thanking the board and saying he is "a lifelong, public school educator" and that recruiting, hiring and retaining excellent staff are among the most important levers to improve student outcomes. He said he looks forward to "building strong trusting relationships" across employee groups.
The appointment will be paid and staffed per the district's hiring processes and the administration said Duda will begin duties in July 2025.
