Two board members to leave July 1; board outlines appointment process

President Kelly Carlson announced Wednesday that he and board member Joel Dunning have submitted letters of resignation effective July 1 and outlined the district's process for filling their seats temporarily.
Carlson told the board he and his family have an opportunity outside the district and provided written resignations to the board. He said the district has posted a board‑member application on the district website under the Leadership → Board of Education tab; applicants may submit interest through June 25 and the board plans to review applications and discuss appointments at a special meeting on June 26. "So that leaves two seats open on the school board," Carlson said, describing the plan to appoint individuals to finish the roughly six months remaining in the terms.
The board moved to accept both resignations; the motions were seconded and approved. Carlson said the board will formally recognize departing members at a reception the week of June 26.
