Hayes told the board the foundation recorded about 2,000 individual donation transactions over the year — roughly 38 each week — and that the organization awarded nearly $100,000 in classroom grants. He said the foundation also provided about $30,000 in first‑year teacher bonuses and teacher appreciation initiatives.
The presentation highlighted districtwide impact, with foundation support reaching every campus and backing programs from RISE to career and technical education. Hayes credited partnerships with local events for sustained fundraising, saying the Summerville Meatball Run and Italian Feast have, in total, contributed more than $130,000 to the foundation over their lifetimes.
Hayes also named Kim Cahill as a recent addition to the foundation’s staff and said her community‑relations role has expanded outreach efforts.
Board members thanked Hayes and acknowledged the foundation's role in directing flexible dollars into classrooms. The highlights segment concluded with the board congratulating local scholarship and grant recipients: an Ashley Ridge student who received a Chen Family Scholarship and a William Reeves Elementary staff member who received a classroom grant from the Palmetto State Teachers Association.
The board moved on after the presentation with no formal action required of the board on the foundation's report.
