Students, community volunteers and donors recognized; board approves EF exchange MOU

The Prescott Unified School District governing board used part of its agenda to recognize students, coaches and volunteers across the district and to approve program partnerships.

Board members presented tokens of appreciation to winter-season athletes and volunteer coaches and discussed strong community attendance at events that were televised on the Arizona Sports Network. The board thanked staff and volunteers for athletics and extracurricular programming.

Kathleen and Interact club students described two upcoming service trips sponsored by Rotary: one to Kenya to distribute used mobility devices collected in Northern Arizona, and one to Mexico to work with a wheelchair repair group called Lehi. Students pay a modest fee (approximately $1,000) and Rotary and fundraising efforts cover remaining costs; the board noted staff will seek formal board approval on the school-sponsored trip once dates and full details are finalized.

The board also individually recognized donors pulled from the consent agenda (donations included $1,500 from Prescott Sunrise Lions Foundation and a $23,100 Education Foundation contribution noted in the consent description). Trustees approved an MOU with EF High School Exchange to permit an additional exchange-provider relationship for Prescott High School; the high-school principal retains placement authority and the program must follow district host-family and acceptance standards.

The board accepted these items by voice votes and expressed appreciation for student service, staff leadership and community philanthropy.
