Board OKs driveway‑slope variance for Firefly Drive lot after builder cites steep terrain and $450,000 in site work

Bill Biles, identified in the record as president of Biles Construction, told the board the lot’s terrain prevented meeting the 10% maximum and that efforts had reduced the slope to about 13.44 percent. "We've already spent, over $450,000 in concrete retaining walls and building up the site to get that driveway slip under 15%," Biles said, urging the board to approve a variance for this lot and other similarly situated lots he will bring forward.
Staff and board members discussed permitting and survey changes to record driveway slopes with initial building permits moving forward. A motion to grant the variance was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The builder said the surveyor will submit the driveway slope with the initial building permit documents going forward.
