The Board of Regents' facilities and property committee approved an Act 959 request from LSU to renovate restrooms on the first through fourth floors of the LSU Student Union.
Staff described the work as replacement of deteriorated components, ADA and code upgrades, improved finishes and accessibility improvements for a high‑use student facility. The project cost is $1,700,000 and will be funded entirely from self‑generated auxiliary revenues, not state operating dollars, consistent with Act 959's allowance for projects up to $10 million outside the capital outlay process when not funded by state operating funds.
Committee members had no substantive questions and voted to approve the project by voice vote. Staff said the project is intended to improve functionality and user experience for students, staff and campus visitors across multiple floors of the union.
