Students recognized for competition success, athletic milestones at Greater Egg Harbor meeting

Student speakers described a turnaround in a recent academic competition: after a disappointing initial showing, the team increased practice, played to individual strengths and finished strongly at a subsequent competition, according to the students who spoke. "We had many meetings...we recognized our strengths and what we brought to the table," one student said while recounting the preparation.
Board members praised the students. The presiding official (Speaker 1) congratulated the students for teamwork and learning from the experience: "I just wanna make sure I say I wanna make sure I say congratulations to all of you." The board also heard student reports from each high school:
- Absegami (Speaker 12) reported that the girls track team won their conference and remained undefeated; multiple baseball and softball players reached 100 career strikeouts and a senior broke a school home-run record. The student also listed planned events including a spring band concert and a district-wide "Greater Egg champions day."
- Cedar Creek (Speaker 11) highlighted a National Honor Society ceremony, a performing-arts trip to Disney, boys tennis and lacrosse successes, and a large community cleanup volunteer turnout.
- Oak Crest (Speaker 13) reported recent tournaments and athletic achievements, the ongoing AP testing schedule, and a freshman orientation event.
Board members used the reports to preview the end-of-year calendar — prom season, senior awards and graduation — and to remind board members to attend upcoming events and a July retreat. No board action was taken on the student reports; comments were presented as informational and for community recognition.
The board thanked the students and emphasized the value of hearing directly from student representatives about school priorities and activities.
