"We were a part of the top 5 that were... and we were the only school district that was recognized," Speaker 6 said.
The award nomination, the board was told, praised the district’s "ongoing commitment to mental health and well-being for the students, staff, parents, and school community and making mental health a priority." District trustees and staff at the meeting credited past and current leadership, ongoing staff training and sustained staffing as the basis for the recognition. Speaker 9 said former superintendent John Keenan and collaborations with local mental-health organizations helped build the program over several years.
Board members noted the recognition came from a competitive national field. Speaker 6 described the award process as highly selective, saying the council received an "extraordinarily high number of high-quality submissions."
