Cliffside Park board highlights staffing gains and moves forward on teacher contract

The Cliffside Park Board of Education on May 16 said district staffing has improved ahead of the 2025–26 school year and indicated it will ratify a new teachers’ contract.
At the start of the meeting a district administrator reported the district’s vacancies had fallen “from approximately 25 to 2” as the administration and board worked on recruitment, outreach and negotiations. The update preceded an agenda that included 35 personnel resolutions the administration said it planned to present for approval.
Board members repeatedly thanked teachers, principals and contract negotiators for cooperation during bargaining. One member said the negotiating teams ‘‘came to it looking to be fair’’ and described the resulting agreement as benefiting both sides; another said the board would ratify the contract at that meeting.
The board also recognized the role of parent-teacher organizations and principals in end-of-year activities while previewing summer programs and summer school operations. The administration said it is engaging auditors for the end-of-year audit and preparing capital and summer projects ahead of the new fiscal year.
The meeting proceeded under routine agenda procedures; a vote was taken on the items on the floor before members moved to adjourn.
