Pittsburg commission honors VetLinks on 10th anniversary; Mercy Hospital names new administrator

The Pittsburg City Commission on June 24 recognized VetLinks, a volunteer nonprofit that connects veterans to crisis services, mental-health care and direct financial assistance, on its 10th anniversary.
Dan McNally, speaking for VetLinks, told the commission the organization is "headquartered in Pittsburg" and has "helped veterans now in about like 42 states," providing immediate connections to crisis services, VA resources, advocacy groups and, when needed, direct assistance such as help with mortgage payments, car repairs or childcare. "We're all volunteer," McNally said, adding that the group was founded after a local veteran’s struggle to obtain timely, effective treatment.
The commission also heard from David Smith, whom the chair introduced as the new administrator at Mercy Hospital. Smith said one of the hospital’s major near-term projects is an "Epic Transition, the medical record," which he described as improving scheduling, billing and the integration of patient data across health systems that use Epic. "You'll hear more about that from me and from others," Smith said.
Commissioners offered formal thanks to VetLinks for community support during the recognition. No formal action accompanied the recognition; it was presented as an item of community acknowledgment. The commission moved on to routine business after the presentations.
