School board reviews proposed 2025–26 budget; final numbers hinge on Sept. 20 enrollment count

The presentation emphasized that enrollment will determine the final figures. In response to a board question, Unidentified Speaker 3 said, "September 20 is count day," and that final enrollment numbers are typically finalized by mid-October and audited by the state in January–February, after which the final budget is set. A board member (referenced as Greg) was told a report on enrollment, including open-enrollment impacts, would be brought to the board in October.
The board opened a public comment period but, after waiting about five minutes, received no speakers. Unidentified Speaker 2 said, "I'm going to close the public comment section of the meeting. We've waited about 5 minutes, and there wasn't anyone to speak with the board," and moved to conclude the 2526 budget hearing. No votes or formal motions on the budget were recorded during the hearing.
Next steps: staff will report enrollment figures to the board in October; the district will reconcile final counts and the state audit timeline before adopting a final 2025–26 budget.
