At its May 16 meeting, the Cliffside Park Board of Education set aside time to recognize student teams and honor teachers and an educational specialist from across the district.
Board members and school principals presented awards to students who qualified for state and international competitions in a 'real world design' challenge, noting the multi‑part packet and hours of preparation that led to top finishes. Named students called forward included Jen Paoloacci, Caitlin Belans (team captain), Victor Freitas, Juan Hernandez, Eric Loesch, Sahir Bosch and Max Grandog.
The board also presented Teacher of the Year awards for each school. Presenters and principals praised honorees for long service, classroom rigor, and for supporting struggling students; specific awardees named in the meeting include Elizabeth 'Liz' Layton, Jennifer McCray (School 4), Juana Morales (School 5), Vincenzo Camarere (School 6), Allison Palmeri (middle school), and Megan Haney (educational specialist). Speakers shared anecdotes and thanked staff and families for their support.
Board members applauded the honorees and invited principals to continue community support for educators.
