Councilors raised specific location concerns at the west end of town (before Anderson Drive), Cemetery Hill, Lucas Avenue approaches and the south end near the 127 bypass; some noted parts of the discussed approaches lie outside the city limits, and the mayor said he would raise those boundary questions with DOT during follow-up conversations.
Supporters described the resolution as a low-cost, practical step to protect neighborhood quality of life where heavy trucks have been traveling on streets not designed for large commercial vehicles. The council passed the measure by voice vote with no recorded dissent.
The resolution directs the mayor to communicate the council—s request to SCDOT and to explore digital-mapping updates; any physical changes on state-maintained roads will require DOT concurrence and, where applicable, intergovernmental coordination.
